ISA 4th Annual Jewelry Symposium

I was so pleased to attend International Society of Appraisers’ 4th annual jewelry Symposium! We learned a great deal about identification of certain gems, Luxe watches and identification, jewelry periods, types, and the great Houses of jewelry makers.

Interestingly, before the symposium, I was on-site with a client who had a distant affiliation with Daisy fellows. For those of you not familiar with this wild and wicked Parisian socialite of the 1920s/30s, investigate her life: it makes great reading!

As the heiress to the Singer Sewing Machine fortune, she had a magnificent jewelry collection from the likes of Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels, Mauboussin and Cartier.

One standout piece in Daisy's collection was the Hindu necklace crafted by Cartier in 1936. This masterpiece featured round brilliant-cut diamonds set in platinum, with a large cabochon ruby pendant as its centerpiece. The necklace's enduring popularity attests to its timeless design and Cartier's meticulous craftsmanship.

What an interesting connection of events!
