Art Advisory & Brokerage
Since 2016, LDLawrence Consulting, LLC has been providing clients in the immediate DMV area and across the country USPAP-compliant personal property authorized appraisals, Asset Disposition Strategy and High-Value Asset Consulting. We offer accurate and objective appraisals for insurance, taxes, estate planning, dissolutions; as well as assisting Estate and estate planning attorneys, Fiduciaries, Trust Officers and other professionals through evaluations of liquidity vs value across collections.
Appraisal practice and expertise
The practice encompasses fine art, antiques, silver, rugs, and decorative objects. Appraisal work brings together examination of the property, review of available documentation, object research, and analysis of relevant market evidence. The purpose and intended use of each assignment guide its scope, methodology, and reporting. Written appraisals are prepared in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice
(USPAP). Engagements may concern estates and estate planning, insurance, charitable contributions, or equitable distribution.
Art advisory consulting and disposition strategy
Advisory work helps clients consider questions about their collections in the context of their objectives. When acollection is being reviewed or a transition is anticipated, the discussion may address what to retain, distribute, donate, or sell. Market value, provenance, potential liquidity, selling costs, timing, and the available documentation inform theassessment. The aim is to give clients and their advisors a reasoned basis for evaluating the available options.
Art brokerage assistance
Art brokerage assistance is available upon request for clients seeking help with an art transaction. The nature ofthe property, the client's objectives, and the proposed role determine the scope of assistance.
Brokerage terms and compensation are addressed as part of the engagement. Appraisal, advisory, and brokerage services are described according to the work being undertaken so clients understand the role involved.

Founder & Principal Appraiser, LDLawrence Consulting LLC
Lesley D. Lawrence is an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), specializing in Fine Arts. With more than two decades of experience in the antiques, collectibles, and personal property valuation markets, she brings extensive market knowledge, analytical expertise, and professional appraisal training to her practice.
Ms. Lawrence earned her ISA accreditation in Fine Arts in 2022 and successfully completed the organization's requalification requirements in August 2025. Her professional development includes ongoing education in appraisal methodology, valuation standards, fine and decorative arts, and specialized personal property categories.
She has completed successive editions of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) coursework, including the 2026 update, supporting her commitment to recognized professional appraisal standards and ethical practice.
An active contributor to the appraisal profession, Ms. Lawrence served as ISA Fine Arts Chair (2024–2026) and participated in the organization's Awards and Mentorship Committees. Her professional involvement includes organizing and presenting educational programs designed to advance knowledge sharing and professional development within the appraisal community.
In recognition of her contributions to the profession, she received the 2026 ISA Outstanding Colleague Award. In 2026, she was also elected to ISA's Board of Directors.
Ms. Lawrence is also a member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and is affiliated with the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council.

WHAT’S INCLUDED WITH YOUR APPRAISAL?
Our clients receive the services of an educated and authorized appraisal expert who will provide you with a formal written USPAP-compliant report complete with photos. The report should include the objective, intended use, scope of work, a complete and accurate description of the items, market analysis, markets selected, a well-defined value reasoning, and the qualifications of the appraiser.
HOW ARE APPRAISALS CONDUCTED?
Personal Property Inspection:
LDLawrence Consulting will examine all the property identified by the client to be included in the Appraisal Report, noting and evaluating characteristics, age, condition, provenance, and measurements of items. On-site inspections where the items are located are performed.
Digital Photography:
Digital images are taken to document the item's existence and aid in research. Photographs are included in the final report.
Research:
Values are based upon comparable sales for each item. Research is the time taken to identify marks, labels, dates, locating and analyzing comparable items, investigating necessary markets, and if necessary, consulting experts.
Report:
LDLawrence Consulting's final appraisal or restricted appraisal report can be delivered either electronically or as needed, in a bound format. The report is compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice
